A city that's an experience

Rome isn't just a city โ€”
it's a living museum

Grand monuments, colorful piazzas, and irresistible pasta at every corner. Whether you're with friends, family, or a partner, Rome layers history, romance, and lively local life all into one.

You're walking the same streets once trodden by emperors and gladiators. Between the dazzling art, the unforgettable cuisine, and that famous Italian charm, it earns every bit of its reputation.

Rome rewards wandering. Some of my best moments weren't the big sights โ€” they were getting happily lost in the streets between them, gelato in hand.โ€” My honest take

The 4-day plan

How I spent my days

A relaxed four days covering the essentials โ€” ancient Rome, the Vatican, and time to just soak up the neighborhoods.

Day1

Arrival & Trastevere vibes

Checked into a central stay near Trastevere, then wandered its colorful alleys, grabbed an aperitivo, and had a casual pasta dinner under the fairy lights.

Day2

Ancient Rome

Morning Colosseum and Roman Forum guided tour, then Capitoline Hill and Piazza Venezia. In the evening, tossed a coin into the Trevi Fountain and found pizza nearby.

Practical tips

๐Ÿš‡ Getting around

  • Metro and buses are cheap and easy at โ‚ฌ1.50 a ride.
  • A hop-on-hop-off tour is a relaxed way to see landmarks without metro logistics.
  • Don't rent a car in the city โ€” ZTL restricted zones, parking, and traffic make it a headache. Only consider one for countryside day trips.

๐Ÿงณ What to pack

Comfortable walking shoesScarf/shawl for churchesReusable water bottleSmall crossbody bagType C/F/L adapterSunscreenEuros in small bills

Cobblestones are everywhere, and the Vatican requires covered shoulders and knees.

๐Ÿ’ง Good to know

  • Refill your bottle free at Rome's public fountains, the nasoni.
  • Carry small bills for cafรฉs, gelato, and markets.
  • Dress modestly for the Vatican โ€” no short shorts or sleeveless tops.

โญ Why Rome

Layered history, world-class art, and food that turns a simple lunch into a memory. Few cities pack this much into a walkable few days.
